INFINITI Power & Motion Activated Liftgates Ease Cargo Loading

One of the most popular features among our customers who have a lot going on in their lives is the INFINITI power liftgate, which comes standard in the following models at our dealership serving Clifton NJ:

Select models offer the Motion Activated liftgate that gives you another way of opening up the door that leads to your cargo space in back. That’s why we wanted to take a minute to show you how both of these luxury features work to make your loading & unloading experience easy.

INFINITI Power Liftgate Instructions

In order to operate the INFINITI power liftgate, your vehicle must be in park. There are 3 different ways to open it up:

1. Press the liftgate button located on the instrument panel
2. Press & hold the liftgate button on the Intelligent Key
3. Press the button on the liftgate located right next to the INFINITI symbol

A chime will go off when the power opening sequence has started to indicate that the liftgate is working. If you press any of the buttons a second time, another chime will sound and the liftgate will reverse directions.

You can set the power liftgate to open a specific height by doing the following:

• Opening it using the Intelligent Key or liftgate button
• Pulling the liftgate down to the desired position
• While keeping the liftgate in place, press & hold the liftgate button located on the lower part of the liftgate for more than 3 seconds until 2 beeps are heard
• Repeat this procedure if you want to change the position where you want the liftgate lifted to.

The main liftgate switch is located in the glove compartment and when turned off, the ability to open the liftgate via the buttons on the liftgate itself & the instrument panel are disabled until switched back on. If you want to open up the liftgate and the battery is dead, all you need to do is remove the small rectangular cover located on the bottom of the inside of the liftgate and then move the lever underneath to the right.

INFINITI Motion Activated Liftgate Instructions

The INFINITI Motion Activated liftgate gives you all of the same options above, except now you don’t even need to take your Intelligent Key out of your pocket or purse as long as it’s within 3 feet of the liftgate. Like the power liftgate, the vehicle has to be in park to operate.

All you need to do to use this liftgate is to quickly swing your leg forward underneath the center of the rear bumper, with your foot coming within at least 4” of it without making physical contact with it, and immediately returning your foot to the ground.

Within 2 seconds, 3 beeps will sound and the liftgate will begin to open or close. You don’t need to hold your foot under the bumper or swing it from side to side in order for the system to activate.

As of this blog post’s publishing, the Motion Activated liftgate is offered as an upgrade in select INFINITI QX50, INFINITI QX55 & INFINITI QX60 models at our dealership serving Englewood NJ. We’re sure that feature availability for this technology will grow in the coming years.
